Day 01 Muscat- Ibra- Wahiba Sands

Breakfast at the hotel. At a prefix time you will meet your guide and proceed for an orientation tour of capital city of Oman. You will first visit the Grand Mosque the most exquisite Mosque in Oman. The development of the site, including the fully developed areas and landscaping, covers 416,000 square metres. The Mosque complex (covering 40,000 square metres) is constructed on a raised podium in keeping with the tradition of Omani mosques that were built elevated from street level.

Dress Code

Ladies visiting the mosque are required to cover their head with scarf and do not wear shorts, beachwear or sleeveless outfits as they are to be fully covered.

Men are also to be fully covered. Slip on shoes recommended

After spending sometime here, you will continue drive to the old part of Muscat to see the Al Alam Palace, the official Residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, The Ruler of Oman. The Palace is an architectural marvel for both its design and its location between the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani ( Photo stop only) from here you will drive along the cornice to arrive at the heart of Muttrah. The Muttrah Souq – one of the most popular souqs in the Arabian Gulf. Take a walk in its labyrinthine alleyways beckoning with a myriad of merchandise, from imported fabrics to exotic Oriental spices, perfumes and richly handcrafted artifacts. A visit to this frenetic, pulsating hub of Muscat’s old quarter makes for a delightful experience. Here, scents of exotic Arabian perfumes and spices float through the air. Other shops specialise in famous Omani khanjars (daggers), antiques, traditional silver jewellery, and handicrafts in copper, camel bone, wood, leather and hand-made Omani costumes.

After the tour return to your hotel for a quick bite ( on direct payment). Check-out from the hotel and board the waiting 4wheel drive vehicles and depart for the desert You will drive past the airport and pass several smaller towns and villages. The drive is nice as you will drive through the mountain which is spread all across sometimes very close to you and sometimes going away. You would make some picture stops on the way until you arrive at the Al Mintrib Shell station where after a short break for rest stop , deflating tyre etc here you will then drive into the desert to the 1000 nights Campsite . On your way to the campsite you will enjoy some soft dune drive and you will drive past several Bedouin houses. On arrival at the campsite, you will be welcomed by the staff members who will then offer you some Omani Khawa , dates , soft drinks , whilst your guide sorts out the camps.

Later after the drinks you will retire in your rooms for a short while before coming back to the majlis to sit and enjoy the atmosphere under the starlit sky. Whilst you sit and enjoy the staff members prepare the dinner for you. After dinner retire to your rooms. Overnight in the campsite.

Day 02 Wed -Wahiba Sands- Sinaw- Nizwa

After breakfast check out from the desert camp and proceed to meet one of the Bedouin family to know more about their lifestyle in the desert. There after depart for Nizwa, you will pass through several villages and also the town of Sinaw . On arrival you will proceed straight to the hotel. Check-in at Falaj Daris. After a short break depart for Jabreen Castle .

Arrive at Jabrin to visit the castle, the finest of Oman's castles built in the late 17th Century, which became a seat of Omani learning. This castle has extremely well planned layouts with rooms for the wali, the ladies room, the kitchen, the majlis etc. Most of the ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings with Islamic motifs. The view from the top of the castle is really mesmerizing. After this visit you will drive back to the town. Here you will proceed to the Nizwa souq spend as much time as you wish to. Later return to your vehicle and drive back to the hotel.

Day 03 In Nizwa

After breakfast you will meet your guide and proceed on a tour of the oasis city of Nizwa, which was once the capital of Julanda Dynasty in the 6th & 7th Century AD. Today it remains as the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings & imposing fort. Visit the Nizwa fort with its enormous round tower built in the 17th century built by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'aruba to defend the route to the interior. The fort dominates the entire area, with the town having grown around the edifice. Access to the top is possible only by means of a narrow, twisting staircase barred by heavy wooden doors, studded with metal. From the top of the tower one can get a bird's eye view of the Nizwa city. Later you will proceed with your tour guide to the village of "Al Hamra" for a visit of "The Bait Al Safah", the cradle of Heritage and history. It is one of the best places to shed light on the life of our ancestors as they lived. We also see old houses, Museum and the Falaj system at Bait Al Safah. At Bait Al Safah you will live an out of imagination experience that you will cherish. After enjoying Omani Kawa and dates you will depart for Jabal Shams, En-route stopping for a photograph of Misfah, a village in the mountain seemingly hewn out of rock. The houses cling to the rocks, this looks precarious but it has been here for centuries. A short walk through the village will bring you out looking down at the Falaj and water pools which is still used for washing. Continue drive to Jebal Shams to see the grand canyon in Oman. You will enjoy a part of the afternoon here walking around , there is a possibility of meeting Jebal handicrafts man also. Lunch (on direct payment) at the campsite. Late afternoon drive back to Nizwa. Overnight at the hotel Falaj Daris.

Day 04 Nizwa –Muscat

After breakfast we leave the hotel and our first visit is to the action packed cattle and goat auction at the Nizwa souq on a Friday on other days revisit the souq in the morning, to see the bustling market. After this visit you will drive back to the hotel to check-out and then proceed to Birkat Al Mauz Fort for a short stop. Later proceed to Muscat. On arrival either you are dropped off at the airport to connect flight back home or transferred to a beach hotel of your choice for an extension.
