Desert to the Mountain

Day 01 Monday Arrive Muscat

You will arrive at Muscat International Airport. You will proceed to Travelex counter to collect receipt for visa on arrival. After Immigration you will proceed towards the baggage collection area, where you will collect your luggage and then proceed through customs. Guests then enter the arrival area to be welcomed by our Representative/Tour Guide.

You will be escorted to the waiting vehicle which you will embark upon and depart for your Al Maha International Hotel in Ghubra.

It would take approximately 20-30 minutes to reach your hotel. This beautiful hotel is your home for three nights. Arrive and check in at the hotel . Rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 02- In Muscat- Muscat Moments & Muscat by night

Breakfast at the hotel. At a prefix time you will meet your guide and proceed for an orientation tour of capital city of Oman. You will first visit the Grand Mosque the most exquisite Mosque in Oman. The development of the site, including the fully developed areas and landscaping, covers 416,000 square metres. The Mosque complex (covering 40,000 square metres) is constructed on a raised podium in keeping with the tradition of Omani mosques that were built elevated from street level.

Dress Code

Ladies visiting the mosque are required to cover their head with scarf and do not wear shorts, beachwear or sleeveless outfits as they are to be fully covered.

Men are also to be fully covered. Slip on shoes recommended

After spending sometime here, you will continue drive to the old part of Muscat to see the Al Alam Palace, the official Residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, The Ruler of Oman. The Palace is an architectural marvel for both its design and its location between the 16th century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani ( Photo stop only) from here you will drive along the cornice to arrive at the heart of Muttrah. The Muttrah Souq – one of the most popular souqs in the Arabian Gulf. Take a walk in its labyrinthine alleyways beckoning with a myriad of merchandise, from imported fabrics to exotic Oriental spices, perfumes and richly handcrafted artifacts.

A visit to this frenetic, pulsating hub of Muscat’s old quarter makes for a delightful experience. Here, scents of exotic Arabian perfumes and spices float through the air. Other shops specialise in famous Omani khanjars (daggers), antiques, traditional silver jewellery, and handicrafts in copper, camel bone, wood, leather and hand-made Omani costumes. After the visit to this souq return to the hotel. Rest of the afternoon at leisure. Evening at a prefix time you will be met by your guide and proceed for a “Muscat by Night Tour”, visiting the Grand Mosque, from here you will drive through the city to the old town to see the Palace how it looks in the night with the lights on, from here drive along the cornice to one of the local restaurant for dinner ( on direct payment).

After dinner drive back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 03- Full day Muscat/Wadi Bani Khalid/ Wahiba Sands/Muscat

After breakfast you will meet your tour guide at a prefix time who will escort you to the waiting 4 wheel drive which you will embark upon and depart for the great desert of Oman called the “ Rimal Al Wahiba Sands” you will drive past several small villages and towns along the way. A few rest stops will be made during the journey. In the vehicle there will be supply of soft drinks, canned juices and water. On arrival at Al Mintrib you will stop at the fuel station for deflating of the tyres, this time you can take the opportunity to stretch your legs and use the rest rooms also. After this exercise is over you will depart for the desert dune drive, You will enjoy the thrill of dune driving with our experienced driver before bidding goodbye and proceeding to Wadi Bani Khalid , which stands out like an oasis in the desert with clear green natural spring water pools which give ample scope for a swim. It is here you can enjoy picnic lunch boxes or you can enjoy hot buffet lunch in a local restaurant ( on direct payment), you could take a small walk inside the wadi before returning to your vehicles to drive back to Muscat.

Day 04 - Muscat-/Nizwa /Al Hamra/Misfah/Jebal Shams

Breakfast at the hotel. You will check-out and at a prefix time you will meet your guide and proceed for a soft adventure trip to the Jabal Akhdar Mountain . You will first visit Nizwa which was once the capital of Julanda Dynasty in the 6th & 7th Century AD. Today it remains as the most popular tourist attractions with its historical buildings & imposing fort. Visit the Nizwa fort with its enormous round tower built in the 17th century built by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya'aruba to defend the route to the interior. The fort dominates the entire area, with the town having grown around the edifice. Access to the top is possible only by means of a narrow, twisting staircase barred by heavy wooden doors, studded with metal. From the top of the tower one can get a bird's eye view of the Nizwa city. From here you will proceed to the Nizwa Souq which is renowned for its intricately hand-carved "Khanjar" and ornately designed silver Jewelry. Here on a Friday a unique goat and cattle auction is held. The atmosphere here is electric After the visit to the fort and the souq , you will proceed to one of the local restaurant for lunch ( on direct payment). After lunch you will continue to Al Hamra village with a stop at the Bahla Fort for a short photo stop. Continue to the the Bait Al Safa a 400 year old village and see the real village with old Omani culture. After this visit you will continue drive to the Misfah Village hanging from the edge of the cliff. After this picturesque stop continue drive up to the mountain. On arrival check-in at the Jabal Shams Camp. Evening enjoy walking around the village.

Day 05 Jabal Shams/Al Hamra/Bilat Sait/Wadi Bani Auf/Nakhl/Muscat

After breakfast at the camp, proceed to see the grand canyon and short walk before coming back to the camp to check out and proceed for Muscat.

Be prepared for the adventure, crossing the Hajjar mountains onward to Nakhl. Driving on the mountain is a very interesting section for trill lovers. Photo stops will give the participants the occasion to take an awesome pictures of the wild beauty of Oman. For first time travelers, a visit to these parts can be simply unforgettable. Indeed, nothing prepares you for what’s in store when you arrive at this splendid getaway after enduring a bone-jarring ride for the better part of an hour. Springing into view in the breathtaking sight of the Hajjars in all their magnificent grandeur. Oman’s unspoilt beauty unfurls in a rich tapestry of craggy peaks and rock scapes threaded by wadis as far as the eye can see.

Bilad Sayt, a scenic oasis settlement, can be seen at the bottom of the gorge that plunges just beyond the rocky summit of Sharfat Al Alamayn. It is cool and blustery even at the mid-day, with white cottony clouds hovering just overhead on this delightful promontory called Sharfat Al Alamayn. On a clear day, visitors can enjoy vistas of picturesque Wadi Bani Awf, pass through the lush farm land, watch the roaming camels as you travel towards the distant peaks of the Hajjar range which rise to more than 1000meters. After rough riding enter the outskirts of the village Wadi Bani Awf, slip through the village and catch a glimpse of ancient cliff side houses. Enjoy picnic lunch ( own arrangement). Then we continue driving to the ancient fort of Nakhl, which was built in the pre-Islamic era. Emerging from huge palm groves and protected by mountains, it is perfectly positioned for defense. After a look around the fort, visit Nakhl Hot Springs then proceed to Muscat. On arrival check in to the hotel Al Maha International. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06- Departure transfer

Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out and in time transfer to the “Muscat International Airport”. Arrive at Airport and check in at your Airline counter. After check in our Airport representative will guide you to the immigration gate. After immigration if you want to go shopping proceed to the duty free or wait near the gate for the boarding announcement.
