The Al Gazal Bar, located in the Inter-Continental at Shatti-al-Qurm, is a bar with a twist. This popular expatriate community hangout zone features good live music and dance performances. Muscat’s nightlife is not brash, blaring or boisterous. It is far more restrained, given that Oman is a Muslim country and night entertainment is not exactly in tandem with local culture and tradition. Tourists are often spotted at nightclubs in 5-star hotels that are relatively safe and discreet from the prying eyes of trouble-makers. Here is a guide to the nightlife and entertainment scene in Muscat.

Copacabana in Grand Hyatt

Copacabana is one of the most popular night clubs in the city and is tucked away inside the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Al Qurum. The club offers a variety of drinks for its patrons and entertains guests with current rages in Indian, African and Arabic tunes. There is also a good mix of R 'n B and Hip Hop--especially on weekends, which is Thursday and Friday in Oman. There are a few special events and live performances on certain days. The most impressive feature of this over-packed club is that their standards of discipline and security are very high.

Club Safari in Grand Hyatt

The dazzling three-level venue is a true mix of high-tech entertainment and ethnic African design. The club seats 450 guests and houses a games room, as well as a pub and a rooftop grill house. The Habana Café games room is located on the ground floor and features two large pool tables and cosy seating areas. Strategically placed television sets enable guests to keep up with major sporting events. Cigar aficionados can choose from a wide selection of top quality Habana cigars while seated in a secluded and comfortable Cigar Room. The middle level of Club Safari is known as the 'Safari Pub'. This is where the exciting rhythms from the resident band can be heard and seen from Sunday through to Friday evenings from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am. The buzzing scene is highlighted by a backdrop of African prints and artifacts. The bar serves a wide range of classic drinks and casual 'pub grub'.
